Meridian hit-and-run victim seeks justice as police search for red pickup truck

MERIDIAN, Idaho (CBS2) — A Meridian man was the victim of a hit-and-run early Saturday morning that sent him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man, who we will call Mr. John for his privacy, tells CBS2 that he left work around 12:30 a.m. and headed west on Overland Rd. He was driving through the intersection of Millennium Dr. near the Cinemark movie theater when a full size pickup truck rear ended him. Meridian Police say that a third party who called the police identified the vehicle as an early 2000's red Dodge Ram with a tool box in the bed and front-end damage following the crash.
Mr. John says that he was traveling the speed limit, passed through the intersection, and had "zero reaction time. There were headlights in my rear seat."
The driver of the red pickup then sped off. Meridian Police are investigating and detectives told Mr. John that they are collecting security camera footage from nearby businesses and from traffic cameras to track down the driver.
The red pickup truck should likely have significant damage to the front end considering the damage that was done to the rear end of Mr. John's sedan. If you see a vehicle matching this description, or know anything about the hit-and-run Friday night/Saturday morning, please contact Meridian Police at 208-888-6678 and reference case number 23-8222.
