Deck Building has made it's way into Destiny 2: Season of the Witch. Here's how to get Opaque cards and what to do with them.

Destiny 2's Season of the Witch is here and with it comes a whole new spin on what a Seasonal Activity can be. With the new Alter of Summoning and Savathun's Spire activities, players are able to gain buffs and effects by working on their deck-building prowess in the form of Opaque Cards.

But what is an Opaque card and what's the difference between Major Arcana and Minor Arcana? Let's take a look at how to unlock Opaque Cards in Destiny 2: Season of the Witch.

How To Get Opaque Cards In Destiny 2: Season Of The Witch

Opaque Cards can be earned by completing certain activities in Destiny 2 during Season of the Witch. You can earn them from Alters of Summoning and Savathun's Spire as well as Ritual activities like Strikes, Crucible matches, and Gambit matches.

While all five activities drop Opaque Cards, it seems that only Minor Arcana cards drop from Ritual activities while Major Arcana cards drop from the Seasonal activities. Watch your loot drops at the end of an activity to see if you've gotten a card to drop and take it to the Lecturn of Divination to claim them.  

You can also unlock Opaque cards by leveling the seasonal vendor in the Athenaeum. There are 4 Opaque Cards on the reward track with the vendor this season, unlocked at Ranks 7, 10. 13, and 16. There's also an Opaque card hidden behind a tree at the very back of the Athenaeum, seen below. 

How To Upgrade Opaque Cards Into Major Or Minor Arcana Cards In Destiny 2: Season Of The Witch

After you've gotten your hands on an Opaque Card, take it to the Lecturn of Divination in the Athenaeum located in the room behind Crow in the HELM. Here, you'll be able to convert your cards, but don't forget to claim them once you've converted them. Just because the yellow exclamation point is there, doesn't mean you've completed the process. Make sure you click on the card until the yellow exclamation point turns into a blue checkmark. 

What Is Major Arcana In Destiny 2: Season Of The Witch

Major Arcana has the greatest effect on gameplay in the Alter of Summoning and Savathun's Spire rituals. Once you have five Major Arcana cards, the game will draw one at random in each encounter to give you special buffs. There are at least 12 Major Arcana cards to collect and build your deck of five with, each one with a unique modifier. The card "The Witch" for example, will increase your outgoing damage with each final blow. 

In order to add one of these cards to your deck, you must complete the quest associated with the card. Only Major Arcana cards have these quests, and they're all very straightforward: Complete waves of Alter of Sorrow, Public Events, and getting specific weapon-type kills in Season of the Witch activities are some of what you can expect to need to progress the quests. Each Major Arcana card quest should take less than 30 minutes, depending on your familiarity with the requirements. 

If you decide that you want to switch out which cards you have in your deck, go to the Athenaeum again and select them at their posts around the central arena. 

What Is Minor Arcana In Destiny 2: Season Of The Witch

These cards have more passive benefits and items rather than gameplay buffs associated with them. Once you have collected a few Opaque cards from Ritual or Seasonal activities, you can take them to the Lecturn of Divination in the Athenaeum to claim them instantly, instead of completing a quest like you would for the Major Arcana cards. 

The rewards for these cards can be things like Seasonal Engrams, Enhancement Prisms, Enhancement Shards, and Exotic Engrams. These can also be upgrades for the seasonal vendors like guaranteed Deepsight drops and additional rewards when using a Witch's Key at the end of Savathun's Spire and Alter of Summoning.
